Kids are fantastic on the ski slopes, not only do they have
less distance to fall and are less worried about getting wet
or looking a bit silly, they also have less fear, so when
they do fall ? as long as no one?s looking ? they often
bounce right back. It?s also just plain easier to learn
stuff when you?re a kid! So don?t leave them at home with
Grandma, choose one of these family friendly ski resorts and
check out our list of the Top 10 Family Skiing Holidays.
Les Arcs ski resort tops the list with an impressive
selection of ski school options, free lift passes for under
sixes and day care, nurseries, or private nannies on hand to
care for the littlest kids. If, despite going to ski school
on the low altitude nursery slopes, your kids aren?t quite
fully formed ski bunnies, they may take to skating? And to
turn the frowns from potential boo boos upside down this ski
resort also offers husky sleigh rides, snowshoeing or a trip
to the ice caves.
The ski resort at Flaine is a really short drive from the
airport, definitely good news on a family skiing holiday.
Free lift passes for kids up to five and a special
snowboarding park just for kids also makes it popular with
the age-challenged. Parents will be pleased to hear that
there?s a nursery for kids six months to three years old and
for big kids there?s a ski school and holiday club which
welcomes the 18 month to 14 year age bracket, hosted in
French and English so your kids may learn a bit of French as
well as how to ski. Cervinia will do the same thing for your
kids but in Italian. The ski resort is quite high up so the
nursery slopes get good snow coverage. Out of ski school
hours your kids can have fun on the natural ice rink, at the
cinema, in the ice grotto or catch up with some ten pin
bowling practice.
Isola 2000 doesn?t just have a kids club (for six to 12 year
olds), a cr?che (for kids 15 months to four years), a ski
school time table also offering kids snowboarding lessons,
an ice rink and an aqua centre, it also has a lot of special
festivities planned for around the 25th of December. And we
all know that?s a holiday for kids.
Family skiing holidays favourite, Valmorel, has a feature
that will distract most kids from their worries: an igloo
village. If that?s a bit chilly how about a ride on a horse
drawn sleigh? This ski resort has been welcoming kids onto
its kids only beginners slope for years, but the snow garden
attached to the ski school is a newer addition. A cr?che
will care for kids 18 months to two years until they?re old
enough for ski kindergarten for kids between three and six.
Les Gets is another ski resort with slopes specially for
kids ? called Le Grande Cry, it?s got a cowboys and Indians
theme with ski runs, bumps, corners and ski lifts,
definitely a way to make ski school fun. For little ones
chalet childcare, a nanny service or nursery options are
available.
Cortina d'Ampezzo has some of Europe?s best nursery and
beginner ski slopes and the ski resort complex includes a
cinema, arcades, skating and ski school, and slopes for
sledding or bobsledding. A childcare centre will look after
your kids between 8am and 5pm if they?re too small to ski.
Lech?s Ski Resort will start your kids off at ski kinder
from three years and big person ski school from four. Lech?s
slopes are just right for ski school and some of the most
highly recommended schools in Europe are based here. Sleigh
rides, tobogganing, ice skating, snowshoeing and more
unusual kids pastimes like curling and winter golf will keep
your offspring entertained off the ski slopes. The Lech
Tourist Office can recommend baby sitters for your littlest
kids. Soldeu is another ski resort known for its ski
schools. Ski nursery will look after your twos to fours but
from three years old your kids will be welcomed into ski
school by a team from the commonwealth countries. Soldeu ski
school has its own snow garden, but the most popular kids
feature is the ?Mickey Mouse? ski run especially for kids.
The ski resort at Alpe d'Huez has cheap kids ski lift deals,
a cr?che for kids 6months to 5 years, a ski and play club
for kids two and a half to four and ski school for everyone
else, which will keep the parents happy, and a skating rink
and outdoor pool to keep the kids happy.
